Apparently the Republican Presidential candidates do not believe that they need or want the African-American vote. Following in the footsteps of Dubya for the first six years of his White House occupation, Guiliani, Brownback, Huckabee, Hunter, McCain, Romney, Ron Paul, and Tommy Thompson choose to not to appear at the NAACP convention. The "presidential" candidates declined to show up for the NAACP-sponsored debate. Tancredo was the only candidate to make an appearance. Wonder how that felt?

This is an embarrassment for the entire world to see. The Republicans are not interested in civil rights, minorities, or anyone else for that matter. CNN, MSNBC, and Faux Noise have yet to report this - guess Paris Hilton is more important.

Wow. And nine percent of African-Americans will still vote for a Republican in November 2008.

Do your duty and spread the word about this travesty to America and how the Republicans really feel about civil rights.

John Edwards and Hillary Clinton Say Cut Numbers at Debate

Warning: The video has only been available from Faux Noise. Apologies to all. Faux Noise seems to forget that Dubya still does not know where England is located let alone California. Didn't Dubya have a listening device at his last presidential debate against John Kerry?

A conversation between Edwards and Hillary Clinton was recorded of them stating how they should work together to limit the number of debate. Have Edwards and Clinton forgot that just because they are considered the front-runners does not mean the American people have decided? What makes this conversation even worse is that they said this after debating at the NAACP convention. The NAACP is about civil rights for all and that includes the right to hear all the candidates.

Clinton of all people should know that the mics are always on and you have to be careful of what you say. Will be interesting to see what type of fallout occurs because of this conversation.

Next Clinton will be discussing keeping Edwards away because he is polling well below Obama and herself. Then maybe she will keep Obama away because she is polling higher than her. Oh say can you see.....................

Larry Flynt is a true patriot. He is going after those in Congress and other places of great responsibility to the American Public. He is flushing out those individuals who use god and religion to cover up their own discretions. He is flushing out those individuals who hypocritically calls others unpatriotic, non-christian, immoral, etc., all the while they are the ones actually sleeping with prostitutes or having affairs. With the announcement that Flynt has credible information on 25 members of the House and 2 members of the Senate plus some other high ranking government officials, expect heads to roll. Get your popcorn and a nice cold beer out - this is going to be a hellavu ride.

Pat Buchanan appeared on Carlson Tucker's show today on MSNBC. They were discussing the Sopranos series finale when Buchanan says I thought it was "those dark guys" that were going to kill Tony Soprano.

Those dark guys? Does Buchanan not know how to say Black or African-American? Even colored and negroes sounds better than "those dark guys."

Isn't the old saying that you get wiser as you get older. Well what was Buchanan like when he was in his 20s. No - do not want to go into his racist background.

Fuel Efficiency: American Cars Move Further Down the Chain

The oil companies must be shaking in their boots. Too bad American car makers still have not gotten the hint that Americans want fuel efficiency not a cup holder that has heating and cooling capabilities.

The Pennsylvania based Lithium Technology Corporation recently demonstrated a new type of "plug-in" Toyota Prius hybrid car. The new model is based on advanced lithium iron phosphate battery which allows the hybrid car to travel up to a distance of 125 miles per gallon of fuel – making it possibly the most efficient mass-produced car in the world.
Lithium Technology Corporation (LTC) announced that its' new lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) technology might be incoporated in hybrid cars expected to arrive in the market in 2008-2009. The Toyota Prius demonstrated by LTC was also equipped with a "plug-in" capability which allows it to recharge using conventional power sources (such as a power outlet in the owner's garage). Currently there are no "plug-in" capable cars on the market but special conversion kits are available and a small number of people are already using them to recharge their hybrid vehicles.

Although the new long range "plug-in" Toyota Prius might prove to be even more popular than its current version (which since the launch of its second version in 2004 has sold over 200,000 units worldwide), it is still very far from breaking the world record for the longest drive per gallon of fuel. This record was recently broken by a prototype car built by a team from St. Joseph La Joliverie University in France, which set an astonishing record of 7,148 miles per gallon of fuel (3,039 km per liter).

Today has been a slow news day so here are few stories to take to bed with you.

Apparently good ol' Dick Cheney was a client of the DC Madam, which is just creepy. Is it possible that Dick has feelings? Can his heart, or what ever machine his doctors have implanted, handle him getting a rise? Actually the American public should be interested in hearing about Dick's shenanigans. But does anyone want to know that he was having sex or even that someone would touch him. Ewwwww. What position did Dick take:

Speaking of integrity, Alberto Gonzales seems to have confidence that all the hearings and public outcry is not going to result in his firing, being asked to resign by the White House, or a possible impeachment. He never ceases to amaze in his arrogance. Mr. I-Do-Not-Recall seems to think that his unethical behavior has gotten him through the storm. His selfishness has caused the Department of Justice to lose confidence with the American people. He needs to resign and do what is best for the United States. His inability to recall information, meetings that he was involved in, decisions that he made show at a minimum that he is not a manager or leader because he does not know how to take responsibility for his own actions and ownership for the problems over at the DOJ. The question is - Why is Bushie keeping him on board? Dubya's refusal to do what is right for the United States and to admit when things are bad never ceases to amaze.

Apparently the Senator who loves those Storm Thurmond values is angry at the 11 senators who staged a Bush intervention. The public is grateful for that intervention - Bush needs to be put on a 10 step program. However, Trent Lott thinks differently. According to the Minority Whip (yeah yeah stop laughing at the irony) those Congressmen should have kept their mouth shut. But senator isn't that what they have been doing the entire time Bush has occupied the oval office? Apparently Lott did not get the memo from the American people that we expect our representatives to disclose there activities. After all they were voted in by the American people and represent the American people.

And speaking of interventions, Dick seriously needs his head examined. Here is a transcript from his latest interview, with you guessed it Fox, where the questions were pre-screened.

Not sure if Hillary Clinton should be believed, but law students should love this. She is promising to make higher education more affordable and to take on those pesky predatory lending companies that provide those student loans. Does anyone believe her?

And for those with grandparents, ill family members, or yourself - the members of Congress do not work for you they work for big industry. Check out this story about how much your representative got from the pharmaceutical companies - it is sickening. Apparently the 2006 election did not send the right message or they were unable to understand what it meant. So in 2008 they need to get the message loud and clear as they are thrown out of Congress in November 2008.

Well apparently Giuliani is doing something that Bush is not - he is letting those red staters who keep selecting Bush know that they are not part of the GOP base. Apparently Giuliani only meets with those who make more than $1 million dollars. Guess he is going to lose the Iowa vote and some other red states. Serves those red staters right - the blue kept telling the red that they were being used.

And for the third Cheney story, Kucinich's impeachment bill just got a co-sponsor. Dick is getting mad, real mad. He may go shoot another friend in his face. Poor Dick wonder if he is going to go to a undisclosed location until January 2009 - probably not he is too honery for that.

Finally, if Dubya and the do-nothing Republicans are so into protecting the United States and National Security is their priority. They love to brag how there has not been an attack since 9/11 then is this necessary. Does this not make it seem that the "administration" may be letting things slip through the cracks again - such as not reading security briefs that say "Bin Laden determined to attack."

Alberto Gonzales Has Amnesia At Congressional Hearing Today

Well things seem to be getting worse for the Attorney General. During today's hearing he had a hard time containing his smugness. Just watch his interactions. He is almost laughing at Congress like he knows that they are not going to do anything to him. We can only hope that he will be put in his place soon - Impeachment please. And whatever state bar he belongs to needs to suspend his license or just completely disbar him.

Again the American People have been stonewalled by this "administration" and this "attorney" general. Where is the uproar, the outcry. Surely there would be one if this was Clinton or a local District Attorney.

He still looks like a little turd.

Now isn't this quant. Instead of talking about Gonzales' lying a Republican feels the need to bring up a Democrat who is under investigation and asking the DOJ to wrap up the investigation. Isn't that what the fired US Attorneys were saying was going on - political party pressure to prosecute Democrats for political gain.

This man is a poor excuse for a manager let only someone who is an administrator of the entire Department of Justice for the United States. Was he waterboarded prior to these hearings begun or did he undergo some type of hypnosis because for an attorney he sure cannot remember anything that he did let alone the Department. Does he have amnesia? Because that is the only justifiable reason for his behavior.

He sure loves passing the buck. Did this man really go to law school and did he actually take and pass an ethics course? Wonder if he took any Continuing Legal Education courses because this is pathetic.

Great job! He lets the facts speak for themselves. This is one of the most creative ads in the Presidential race.

While he is qualified he does not have a chance to win the Presidential nomination. For one the red staters would be scared that he would let the entire population of Mexico cross into the United States. Second, the man has some of the best credentials amongst all of the presidential candidates - for the past 2 selections the American people were less worried about creditentials and more worried about whether the presidential candidate was someone they could sit down and have a drink with. Well we see where that got the US. Finally, he's just not snazzy enough. He will be in someone's cabinet for sure though. Right now the US could use him as the Secretary of State.

Lobbyist Go After Michael Moore

That seems to be a Moore appropriate title. Ever since Michael Moore's scathing documentary against Baby Bush, the government and Republicans have been after Moore. His new documentary, "Sicko", that is scheduled for release has been causing fear in the health care industry for years.

Well now it seems the lobbyist, ooops meant the Feds , have become involved by launching an investigation of Moore's trip to Cuba and their timing is perfect - right before the film premieres at the Cannes Film Festival. And too bad that this publicity is just going to help the film do better in the box office.

Now Moore had applied for a license to take 9/11 workers to Cuba for treatment, but the Feds never responded. So being Moore he went anyways. That was the point, to show how a country that the US deplores and is supposed to be so bad has better medical care for its citizens. Also, who could argue that at least Moore was acknowledging that the 9/11 workers are suffering from illnesses caused by their being patriotic. Apparently, the Cuban media has picked up on the discrepancy, which is probably going to keep Fidel alive a few more years.

Maybe Moore's documentary "Sicko" will start a national debate on the role that lobbyist and politicians play in making sure the American people cannot afford basic health care. For a film that has not been viewed yet, former Republican Fred Thompson is already weighing in with an uneducated opinion:

"What is it that leads people to value theoretically “free” health care, even when it’s lousy or nonexistent, over a free society that actually delivers health care? You might have to deal with creditors after you go to the emergency ward in America, but no one is denied medical care here. I guarantee even the poorest Americans are getting far better medical services than many Cubans."

Yeah Thompson, even the poorest Americans can receive some medical services, but that happens in the emergency room and they are subsequently billed for those services. Then the hospital sends the big bad collection agencies after them. Never heard of Fidel doing that.

Perhaps Thompson forgot to mention one American who is featured in Moore's documentary. The poor woman's insurance company denied payment for the ambulance that transported her to the hospital because the service was not pre-approved. They did not care that she had just been in head on collision and that while suffering head injuries and lying in a smashed up car, she was unable to get on her cell phone and call the insurance company.

And whoever is the source leaking information about Michael Moore's fear that the Feds are trying to destroy his documentary needs to stop. If Moore decided to send a copy of his documentary outside the country for protection then what does that say about America and freedom of speech, expression and free press.

The Democratic Policy Committee have published a study that should leave any middle or lower class American spitting mad and ready to throw Dubya and those in Congress out of Washington. Quote of the day "Middle-class families are working harder and earning less today than they were at the start of the Bush Administration. "

Wonder whether such comments as Worst job creation record since Hoover Administration. A growing economy should be good news for those seeking jobs. But over the course of President Bush’s term in office, his Administration has the worst overall job creation record since Herbert Hoover more than 70 years ago will finally get those Red staters and Dixie Chick haters to see reason. Do they have to be completely destitute before reality sinks in?

Or what about "Bush’s deficit-financed tax cuts have widened the income gap between millionaires and middle-class workers. " Maybe Bush supporters from the middle and lower class do not mind having to work harder for less and paying for millionaires to have one extra yacht.

And as far as those christian values that Dubya loves to, actually, used to brag about. How could a professed christian allow more than 5.4 million Americans to enter the realms of poverty while on his watch. And while Dubya is so concerned about the oil, oops meant the Iraqi people, and millionaires why is 1 out of every 6 child living in poverty. A superpower, the only superpower, does not allow its children to live in poverty.

It is going to take decades maybe centuries to undo what this "administration" has done and what Congress and the American people have allowed to be done to this country and its citizens.

Apparently Bush is threatening to veto a bill that was voted on and passed by members of the House to expand the original hate crime bill to include sexual orientation, gender, and gender's identity.. Have to love how Dubya uses the constitution to serve his purpose when convenient. What about freedom of speech and the right not to be discriminated against or bashed. What happened to those Christian values. Guess that only applies when it is convenient.This bill would be the first bill to extend hate crimes protection to homosexuals - Bush says he plans to veto the bill because it infringes on free speech. All of a sudden now he wants to leave it up to the States to decide. How quickly he forgets about trying to amend the Constitution just a few years ago. Do not recall him mentioning freedom of speech then.

The Christian Right is attempting to wield its power and influence. What happened to the separation of church and state. Somehow in the last few years those lines have been significantly blurred.

We may never know for certain what happened between Karl Rove and the environmental tag team of Laurie David and Sheryl Crow at the White House Correspondents Association Dinner last weekend. (There now seem to be as many versions of events as guests at the dinner.)
But Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who attended the dinner with David and Crow, tells his own story in this weeks’ New York magazine. Rove “literally started spitting at them,” Kennedy told the magazine’s Amy Odell.
The women had attempted to discuss global warming “in a very civil and gentle and friendly and charming way, and he was as rude and arrogant as a person could be, and turned his back on them and walked away,” Kennedy said. “It was a very strange thing to watch, and a sad thing to think the government is being run by, you know, somebody like that.”

She's Got A New Attitude

With that realizes knowledge she has had a better attitude. She knows that they both have their oral arguments on the same day. She has gone home and changed clothes. From the fit of the suit she can tell she has gained weight from not having time to exercise and drinking too many sodas to stay up studying. She hopes he sees her. She wants to talk to him. At some point she wants them to start talking again. She is trying to figure out how to see him. At first she stays talking to a classmate after their oral argument. She hopes that their conversation will last long enough that she will see the guy. That does not happen. So she goes up to the library for a while. She is on her way back down when she notices another male classmate of hers. She tells him she would like for him to walk with her. They walk to the second floor and she sees the guy pacing back and forth. They look at each other. She keeps chatting with the classmate and trying to figure out the lock. She knows that the guy is watching. She is laughing and talking about her locker. The classmate leaves and she tells him bye. She takes a breath and turns around and faces the guy. He is still pacing. He is not wearing a suit. Instead he is wearing a pair of navy slacks, a navy Mr. Rogers sweater, and a red bowtie. She cannot believe that she is attracted to this guy. She feels that it is ridiculous not to speak to him. She misses him. She says hello and his name. He turns around and looks at her. They look at each other for a minute like a deer facing a headlight. They discuss the oral argument. They discuss how tall the classmate that she argued against is. She tells him that the classmate towered over her and that how she is tiny even with heels on. She rambles on nervously. She tells him that she did okay, but that she needs to tighten some things up. She then decides to mention his not showing up to the school event that she had e-mailed him about and how the girl from the organization he was interested in was in attendance. She tells him that she told the organization rep about him. He says that he could not attend because he had lent and “thank you for the e-mail.” Inwardly she is pissed – because he got the e-mail and did not acknowledge its receipt and how matter of factly he makes the comment as if she is some business contact. She laughs and tells him that she does not know anything about lent. She tells him that the rep will be in attendance the following week at an event that her student organization is hosting. He gives the rep’s specific name. She cannot remember the name, so she says that she believes that is correct. He says that he had submitted his resume and was waiting to hear back from the rep. He then asks about the oral argument and had she seen the person he is going against. She says that she does not know, but tells him how long hers lasted. She talks about possibly going out for moot court. She asks him whether he is going to go out for law review or moot court. He states that he is not thinking about that at the moment. She is surprised because he is always planning ahead. The professor opens the door at that moment and she sees them talking and smiles. She waves at the professor. He politely and reluctantly says that he has to go to his oral argument practice. They both say goodbye. She wishes they could have spoken more. She hopes to see him later on, but she does not see him.

She Says He's Just A Friend

She believes that there is a study session, so she decides to look nice for him. The night before she does her hair, gets a facial, and gets a mani and pedi. She wears slim pants, heels and a top. She is disappointed to find out that there is not a study session. She prances around hoping that he will see her. She knows when he is getting out of class. She is by the elevator when she hears folks talking. She knows one of those voices quite well – it is his. So instead of getting on the elevator, she lets the elevator door close. She turns around as she sees another classmate coming in the door. She makes a comment to the classmate. The guy and his friend look at her. The guy says “wow” to his friend. She is glad that he likes her look – well she hopes that is what he saying wow too. She hopes that he was saying wow she looks horrible. But there is nothing else around to be saying wow about. She ignores him, but does speak to his friend as always. They chat about the upcoming oral argument. She teases him and smiles. The guy just looks at her. She does not speak to him or even acknowledge his presence. He looks down at his shoes. They each go their separate ways. Later she begins self-doubt about his comment. The classmate that sat next to them in their mutual class had walked in at the same time. But deep down she knows that he is making that comment about her. She wonders why she is so insecure when it comes to him. At this point she has finally come to the realization that she likes the guy, which is a great freedom to her.

Panic at the Disco

The following week they have a study session. She goes to that study session and sits in the back row. She passes him. She says hello to his friend as always, but does not have anything to say to the guy. She chats back and forth with some of her classmates. Every once in a while as she is speaking to someone he leans back, looks behind the other people seated in the row and looks at her. She does not blink. She keeps chatting and does not pay him any attention. He glances at her a few more times. After the session is over, those in attendance go to pick-up their corrected practice problems and outlines. She does not see hers. He is in front of her looking for his. He picks his up and starts talking to himself about the comments that were made by the TA’s and how he did not do well. She tells him to stop panicking you are always panicking. He does not say anything. She probably was too harsh.

She sends the guy an e-mail about an upcoming event on campus where a representative from the organization he is interested in working for the summer will be in attendance. She tells him that he should attend. She attends, but he does not. She is disappointed that he decided not to attend. She still speaks to the person about him and gets a card from her to give to him.

So she is laughing and chatting with the male classmate. The male classmate turns around and they are laughing and places in arm on her shoulders just as the guy is walking by. She is just turning her head laughing out loud when her eyes land on him. He sees them and stiffens and walks toward the door to leave. She nods her head and the classmate turns around. She tells him that is him. He does not get a good look at him. They laugh, but she wonders if the guy thinks that she is with her male classmate, since he has seen them together other times.

She has gotten to the point where she is able to distinguish his voice from everyone else. They keep passing each other in the hall or one of them ends up walking behind the other. They are not speaking to each other.

The Definition Of A Bigot & A Lie

There have been many people who are defending Imus. Some are defending him because they believe in free speech. There are others, who like Imus during his interview with Reverend Al Sharpton, choose to say “well rappers and some African-Americans use the word ho and the N word.” There are problems with both of these arguments. Individuals need to stop pointing their finger at everyone but themselves.

Yes, individuals have a right to free speech. However, individuals such as Imus have been given an opportunity to reach millions of people. With that opportunity comes responsibility. Individuals such as Imus have influence over what the public thinks/believe to be true and effect and shape public attitude on ideas and individuals within that public. Imus has a history of making objectionable commentary, but yet maintained a steady stream of listeners to his now debunk radio station and television show. What Imus said was purposely directed at the African-American basketball players. Those women were bettering themselves through higher education and striving to be the best they could be. Due to Imus’ comments, those girls will now remember and be remembered as “nappy headed hos.” There stoicism is commendable.

A person recently posted the following “I do agree that if rap artists say the N word alllll the time, then why can't white people? They say that a white person saying that word hurts them, but if that were true, any mention of the word from any race would hurt them I think it is sick and disgusting for anyone who did not personally go through slavery to use that word freely and then say that any white person who was never involved in owning slaves is a racist.”

The world of hip-hop/rap needs to be examined. First, the record labels, television media who play degrading videos, and the radio stations who play the music of a small group of rappers who only spew degrading comments to women and use the N word should be held accountable. The rappers have been an easy target because the majority do not come from high class society and are not white (Eminem seems to avoid being scathed …hmm wonder why). However, the “white” executives should also be held responsible. They choose to produce and finance such material. At the same time the executives choose to not sign or sign, but not promote hip-hop artists such as Common, The Roots, Mos Def who have a positive message. Which leads to why aren’t artists such as Common given high budgets or promoted. This is because the rappers perpetuate negative stereotypes that make the majority feel comfortable. Individuals such as Common are radicals because they have something intelligent and uplifting to say. The majority of individuals purchasing rap CDs and watching MTV are suburban white kids – the media has “failed” as usual to mention this fact.

Many people want the Imus debacle to quickly be swept under the rug and quickly. Again, the question is why? That is because Imus stands for a lot more than “nappy headed hos.” Imus stands for the bigotry and ignorance that has permeated the fabric of the United States. That Imus thought such a comment was just a joke speaks volumes. Imus’ comments were representative of the sexist and racist attitude that must change and hopefully will change. Individuals are being forced to examine themselves and that is scaring many who do not like what they see. Whether liberal or conservative, Republican or Democratic, everyone has something that needs to be changed. The reaction by the majority of the public is encouraging. Maybe the United States is moving toward healing and dialogue. However, the reaction of some members of the media and individuals is greatly disappointed.

Finally, the Imus scandal will go away for a time. However, there will be another Imus like figure that will pop up in the media. The United States has to let those individuals know that such behavior and such comments will not be tolerated. Because when you call female a ho you are not just degrading her you are degrading your mother, your sister, your daughter, your niece, your grandmother, your aunt. And calling someone Nappy is saying that a group of people are somewhat inferior or not as good as the “majority.” Maybe the United States community will use this opportunity to not just have a dialogue but examine how the attitudes were created. The first place to start is changing K-12 education to include the truth instead of myths and fables and, also, to not relegate and condense African-American history to a month and Martin Luther King, Jr.

In the spirit of preparing for finals and for all that is sane.....

Women should take a break. Get away from the drama called law school, get away from the boys - aka why attorneys have such bad names aka if only women were in charge. Why do some women feel that they need a man to be happy? Why do males feel that women need a man to be happy? Why is it that if a woman is not married by the time she is 25 she is considered an old maid? But if a guy has not beeen married by age 30 he is a bachelor and a lady's man.

So ladies maybe it is time to forget the male species for a while and just do you. And I do not mean women have to be lesbians, that is a personal choice or how one is born. Rather what I mean is take a break for your self. Spend time getting to know yourself.

Why settle? And settle for weak man. If he is scared of you being strong then he is not good enough. So do you for a while. Go to a spa, play golf, travel, hang with your girls, enjoy life. Do not be embittered, do not be desperate. Enjoy yourself.

She sees him later that week in class and as usual she is late. She walks into class and he looks at her. She goes to turn to unpack her laptop and he is staring at her. Her battery is dead so she can’t use it. She looks at his reflection on the laptop monitor of the classmate seated next to her. As usual they spend time looking at each other in the laptop monitor. She is not in the best of moods. She is unhappy with herself and confused about her feelings. She knows that she is pushing him away. One time she sees him looking at her and she just scowls and rolls her eyes. He has a confused look on his face. Maybe he is feeling the same way as she is. For the past couple of weeks he would look at her, but she would not show any emotion. Later, she does not have a piece of paper so she asks him for one. He politely gives her one. She has to admit to herself that she is going to miss not having a class with him.

A few days go by. She sees her classmate in the lounge. She smiles and goes and sees him. They chat for a little bit. The guy is seated by her and there is that same girl next to him. She does not pay him any attention. However, his guy friend chats with her. She says hello and laughs with him. She notices that the guy has his stony face back on. She leaves. Earlier, she had ended up befriending a male classmate. She had told this classmate about the guy. The classmate seems to think that the guy likes her and he wants to know if she likes him. She refuses to answer. However, he says that he believes that she likes him because of the way she acts and speaks of the guy. She tells the classmate that the guy is young. And that is all that she will say. However, the significant age difference is a problem to her. So, after seeing the guy in the lounge, she goes and gets her classmate. They discuss the upcoming visit of a Supreme Court justice. They discuss seating and everything. She does not pay the guy any attention. She does not even know what his reaction is to her.

She arrives late to the Supreme Court justice’s speech. Her outfit is not right and she did not have time to do her hair. Frankly, she looks a mess. Afterwards, she runs into a professor and they have a discussion about the speech. As she is speaking to the professor the guy walks by. He is dressed in his Mr. Rogers outfit. They both look at each other. She is self-conscious about her look. She goes home to do her hair and get her suit jacket. When she gets back to school she looks for him, but does not see him. She sits in the VIP section. She keeps looking in the audience looking for him, but she does not see him.

Opposites Attract

After another class, she wants to speak to one of the professors. He is speaking to the professor. She starts looking at him. She notices that he has an old man butt. Why is she looking at his butt? She begins to really look at him for him. He is so not her type, but yet she finds that she is attracted to him. She has no clue why. Everything about him is completely different than what she is usually attracted to. He dresses like Mr. Rogers, yet it does not bother her. He is not athletic, he not tall, so why him. She sees a friend of his and she asks him whether he is going to the morning makeup class. He says he isn’t. She tells him she was planning on going if the guy would stop talking. She says it loud enough so he had to hear it. The friend laughs and leaves. The guy keeps talking and she keeps looking him up and down. Eventually he finishes. As he passes her he looks partially down at the ground and quietly says to her “good luck with your paper.” She is surprised that he spoke and wonders why this guy who is hardly shy is so shy around her. She decides to respond. She asks him if he going to the morning makeup class he says he is. She hands him her laptop and asks him to take it to the class. He takes the laptop. He then looks at it and her and then says that he is going to the bathroom. She looks at him, disappointed that he was thrown the ball and fumbled or completely missed it. He then says that he is going to the bathroom and begins to hand back the laptop. She feels rejected, but tries to make light of it. She tells him that that if the men’s bathroom is as bad as the women’s then that is okay. She takes her laptop back. He begins to walk off. She watches as he slowly walks to the bathroom. He looks around like little boy lost.

Testing the Waters

Are law students doomed to have love lives similar to middle school kids? At what point does that blossom to at least high school.

It seems like individuals are hooking up, dumping each other, experimenting like their are still in undergrad, or not knowing what to do as if they are in elementary school. Is that a guy? "oh my god. What do I do?" Emotionally stunted and physically able.

Can a law student have a healthy relationship? Is it even possible? You see the same people everyday. You do not have the time to foster a relationship with someone outside of law school. Who else would understand the hours that you put into studying and networking?

It seems that if you are not already in a healthy relationship there is no point in even trying to start one.

There is a study session for one of their classes. They both have the same professor, but are in different sections. She knows that she is going to see him. However, she is having one of her bad days – she is sick. Her outfit and hair are not working correctly. She walks into the classroom. She sees him sitting in the back with his friends, but she does not say much. She walks by him. One his boys sitting next to him says hello. She says hey to him laughing. The guy just eats his apple and looks forward. She chats with one of her classmates for a while. They go back and forth. He keeps looking forward. As she is leaving she speaks to his friend again. They joke around. The guy has the stony look on his face and stiffly is looking forward. She feels uncomfortable and insecure. She hates the wall that has grown between them. She finds his reaction cute though as much as she is also hurt by it. She partially blames herself because she is the one who stopped speaking to him and would not acknowledge him. Body Language of A Hurt Soul

She sees him later that week. Her time of not speaking to him has taken its toll on both of them. She is not angry with him or anything. She has gone so long not speaking with him, that she does not know how to behave any other way. Now he is no longer even making an attempt to smile at her. When he sees her his entire body language changes. He becomes stiff. He does not smile. He makes an effort not to even look at her. She notices the difference.

One day she is running late to class. She hurriedly walks out of her office, books and laptop at hand. Walls block her ability to see who may be coming from the left or right. She crashes right into him. She says oh, but he does not say anything. He does not react in any way. He does not even look at her. He just stiffens up and starts back to walking to class. She is hurt that he will not say anything. She readjusts and starts walking to class. He is stone faced. She says hi to a person right in front of him. She does this because she is nervous around the guy. Though it probably comes off more as she is able to talk to everyone but him.

Assessing interracial relationships

In most of America, interracial relationships are as common as cars. In other places, they are tolerated. There are as many variations as there are different ethnicities, but when interracial is mentioned most think immediately of black and white, so that's where my focus will be. Regardless, of which ethnicity is which, this relationship is rife with difficulties, but I can only give you observations as a black man.

If you are in such a relationship, you must be "strong" enough to deal with what may come. There will non verbal and verbal messages passed constantly. You are deemed as weak or a sellout and no one except you knows your motives.

From my observation of black women in relationships with white men, the black women is usually the dominant figure. I have theories. Black women are less willing to bend than most women and that has its merits, however, very few black men are willing to bend either which has the potential to create problems.

For any interracial relationship to work, there has to be some self-honesty. Why are you in this relationship? Is it any other reason except for the person involved?

If you are in an interracial relationship, good for you! If your friends don't like it, get new ones. If the fam doesn't like it, that's a different story.

The next day she plans to attend a speech by a prominent lesbian attorney. She walks through the corridor to the auditorium. She passes him as she walks by. He is chatting with his friends and planning to go to the lounge to have lunch – his lunch is in his hands. He looks at her but she does not look at him. She remembers that she forgot her outline she so leaves the auditorium and walks back to her office. He sees her, but she keeps walking. She gets her outline and goes back to the auditorium. A male acquaintance sits next to her. They strike up a conversation. Later she notices that a classmate who loves to debate is seated behind her. The speaker begins her presentation. A turns around to make a comment to the other classmate. When she turns around she sees the guy is seated in the back row and he is looking at her. Her heart skips a beat, but she has to maintain a poker face. She acts like she does not see him, but she cannot believe that he is there. She passes notes and chats with the classmate several times. Not because she really wants to talk to him, but because she wants to see that guy. Each time she turns around she sees him looking intently at her. One time he is shaking his head in disgust over the comments made by the speaker. It is then that she realizes that he is only there because he wanted to see her because she knows that his views are contrary to the speakers. After all he is an ultra conservative. She wonders why they cannot just talk to each other and be together. She is no longer paying any attention to the speaker or her outline. She talks to the classmate seated next her only because she has to. Her thoughts are only on the guy. Then she turns around a final time and she does not see him. She is disappointed. She misses him and their conversations. She misses seeing his face. She looks around, but he is gone. She is disappointed and deflated.

Giving Him Something He Can Feel

She sees him around school but does not pay him any attention. By now he is not saying anything to her or even making an attempt to smile. Though he is always polite in class to move his chair or if she needs a pen or paper to provide that to her. She sees him in a study session. She does not pay him any attention though she makes sure to say hello to his friend on her way to her seat and after the study session. He just looks forward looking stony.

Then next time in class she is speaking with some classmates. She needs to get around him. He moves his chair. She is going back to her seat and he is standing in her way. She does not say “excuse me.” Instead she places her hands on his waist. He does not jolt, which she causes her surprise. He does not say anything. He seems comfortable. She is surprised that he is physically more her type than she thought he would be.

She goes into an area looking for an acquaintance. When she goes in there he is seated next to a girl. She does not pay him attention. Though she feels his eyes on her. She scans the room, never making eye contact with him. She then leaves. She does not know who the girl next to him is. Though she cares, she tries to make herself believe that she does not.

She sees the guy a week or two later. They are still not speaking. She is in her workout clothes and her shoelace has come undone. The guy is outside talking with some of her friends. She feels his eyes on her as she walks with her professor. She sees him looking at her. She meets with her professor. She sees him and the friend waiting outside. She starts speaking to another classmate because she is not sure if she wants to speak to the guy or how she wants to handle it. She knows she wants to talk to the guy, but she is nervous and shy. She then speaks to the friend. They talk about the brief and other things. The guy quietly makes comments about how she is conservative. They then discuss the brief. She starts laughing with the friend about various cases and research and how after receiving feedback on their previous paper assignment she was smiling like a Chester cat. He complains about how he can’t find the case that the class is talking about. She keeps giving him clues without giving him the answer. He starts panicking about not being about to find the case.

She and the guy start arguing again. The friend just looks at each of them like he is looking at a tennis match. The friend is laughing. They guy starts pouting and goes into the office and sits on the couch. He is acting like such a brat. She continues to talk to the friend. She asks the friend why the guy behaves the way he does. The friend admits that the guy is a little high strung. The guy comes back and joins the conversation for a little bit. The professor is ready to see him so she say to him to go and brown nose with the professor. He gets upset and says that she insulted him. She tells him that she did not insult him. Considering that she was the first to meet with the professor that would make her the brownnoser but he does not catch the irony.

Later that day, she goes to the library. She sees him in the computer lab, but acts like she does not see him. Instead she sees a male acquaintance of hers. She goes and sits next to him. She knows that the guy is watching, but she is also watching the guy. She starts telling the male how she hates guys. He keeps asking her why. She gets up and picks up documents making sure the guys sees her. He is paying attention. He leaves and she is disappointed. He then returns. Instead of sitting on the opposite side of the room, which is where he was earlier, he picks the chair that is closest to her. He is watching them. She mentions how she hates guys and they make her sick. The male keeps asking her and she mentions that she will tell him later. The male notices her looking at the guy as he leaves. The guy does not look happy.

Like A Boy

Once she is studying in the library. He comes in and goes downstairs. She may not be speaking to him, but she is upset that he did not stop and talk to her no matter that they are not speaking. She misses talking to him, but she is still too stubborn.

She had been speaking to a friend of hers about him. The friend tells her that maybe he does love her. The friend also tells her that maybe she is confused about how she feels about him. She tells her friend that he is too young and that she feels like she is back in high school. The friend tells her she needs to figure out how she feels about him. The friend tells her that she is being silly not speaking to the guy and that she needs to speak to him. So the girl decides that she will speak with him.

A friend of her convinces her to speak to him. So she decides to go ahead and do that. She decides that she will speak to him at the next class. As usual she puts on her workout clothes. She is always five minutes late to class. She puts her sunglasses on and goes to class with resolve that their dispute will be resolved or at least that she will talk to him. As usual when she walks into class he looks at her. And as usual he is staring at her through the classmates laptop monitor. So she writes one word on a piece of paper saying “stay.” He looks at it and nods his head. He stays. They walk out of class. She asks him does he understand why she felt the way she felt. Quietly he says he does, but she does not believe that he does. They then end in a conversation about him deciding what he is going to do for the summer and how he does not want to have to spend a lot of money for the summer. She asks him what he wants to do. He says that he is thinking about public interest and housing. She is completely shocked, but she keeps her composure. She tells him that he has a lot of contacts in housing particularly fair housing. He says that he is interested in landlord tenant. She tells him that they end up merging at difference points. He then says he has to go to his appointment. She knows the appointment is important, but she feels that he is rushing and does not want to spend time with her. She does not understand why that matters.

That afternoon she runs into his friend again. He mentions that he and some of the guys other friends had told the guy that they thought she was angry at him. Internally she is gleeful – they are talking about her. She is coming up in conversations – that means he is talking about her. She tells the friend about their conversation. The friend says that the guy does not understand why she may have been upset or angry even though he says he does. He says that the guy is way out there and just does not understand even if he says he does. They talk for a little longer but it is clear the friend feels uncomfortable talking about it. She does not want to give away to much or have him believing that he likes her.

Later she sees him talking to one of his friends. She figures that it is time that she reciprocate his past hand holding antics. She goes up to him and tucks her arm in his.He jolts like he has been shocked with electricity. She does not understand his reaction. Was he surprised, was he pleased, did he not know how to react? Whatever the truth may be, she feels rejected. He is running his mouth as usual. He keeps juggling his books. She offers to hold his books for a minute. He thanks her but tells her he is okay. While he may be she does not take that too well. She has been feeling vulnerable. She makes a smart comment to him and leaves.

She Keeps Passing Me By

For the next few weeks she sees him. At first he tries to smile at her or when she walks by just stares at her. She does not pay him any attention. And it is not because she hates him or is even angry with him. One day she goes to her office and she hears him talking outside the office. She wants to talk to him, but her stubbornness will not allow it. She likes hearing his voice and she almost wants to will him to come talk to her. After an hour of his talking she walks out of her office. She speaks to the folks around him, but not him. He looks around. Again she asks herself why is she behaving this way and why has the cat caught his tongue.

She really does not have much to say. Every time they have a class together she does not speak to him, but she speaks to everyone around him. She catches him looking at her and she makes sure to speak to the person sitting in between him because she wants to see him. She misses talking with him. They both keep looking at each other’s reflections on the other classmate’s laptop screen. She wears her workout clothes and does not pay him any attention. One time she is in a heated debate with the classmate next to her about illegal immigration. She calls his name and asks him what are her feelings about illegal immigrants. He does not blink or look surprised that she is speaking to him. He looks at her and matter-of-factly says that illegal is illegal. She smiles at him. It is funny that he knows her views.

Musical Chairs

At the end of the week, as she enters the classroom she does not even look at him though he is looking at her. He is sitting in her seat, but she plays it cool and sits in another seat. She does not even look at him though she feels him looking at her. After class she speaks to everyone but him. She is not trying to hurt him she has realized that she thinks that he does not care about her.

Back to School Or What You Will

A few weeks go by and she runs into a friend of his. The friend says that he and the guy had been talking and the guy had mentioned how he had not seen her. She does not mention that it is interesting that he is talking about her but not talking to her.

She did not see him for a few more days. She was attending a meeting in another room when she saw a classmate eating lunch. She went to speak to him not realizing that the guy was also in the room. She went in sat next to her classmate. He and she were speaking. Inside she was unhappy that the guy was not acknowledging her presence. As usual, he started talking loud and making comments about a token black guy. She ignored him and kept talking to a friend of hers. He then makes a comment and mentions her name but he says it incorrectly. She chooses to ignore him. She can’t believe that he would say her name incorrectly. He then tries to get her attention again. She ignores him and keeps talking to her classmate.

He then asks his friends if she is ignoring him. He tries to get her attention again and she ignores him. He then says that he guesses that she is ignoring him. She waits a second then grabs her lunch. As she is walking out she says that she tends to ignore people who can’t say her name correctly after knowing her for six months. Her boys start laughing and oohing and she points to one of his boys says what’s up and walks out the room.

After that she does not have anything to say to him. She is actually not happy with him, but she cannot show him that. She sees him the next day, but does not speak to him. He looks at her and tries to smile. She keeps walking like she does not see him. She wonders why can’t her actually say something. He has to know that she is upset about something. Does he even care.

She attends a speech. She is seated next to one of her classmates with her arm behind him. She looks at this classmate as a little brother. She looks around the room and she notices him looking at her. He is not just looking at her he is looking at her with an intensity that takes her breath away. But she can’t act like she is looking at him. She looks around a few minutes later and he is still just staring at her. She starts chatting with her classmates. Later she looks around but he is gone.

Back to School

School started back again and she happened to see him when she was walking to the soda machine. She did not know what to say. She played it cool and kept walking. He stopped her and told her thank you for the card. She just looked at him. She wondered why he could not tell her thank you earlier. She wondered what was on his mind and did he think about the card during those earlier weeks. His friends were leaving so he did not stay and talk, which disappointed her. She wanted to talk to him and felt second choice.

The guy than begin telling A that he loved her. A did not take this serious because they were not dating not even friends. Again, she did not see him for a while. The next time she asked him why he did not give her a hug. She did not want to admit that maybe she wanted him in her life or maybe she was not aware. He hugged her and told her that he loved her. She told him that she loved him too.

One day out of the blue she saw him and he grabbed her hands and intertwined their fingers. He then proceeded to stare into her eyes for a while. He kept looking at their hands and her eyes. A did not know what was going on or how to react. He then let out a sigh and walked away. A did not know what to make of the event that had just occurred.

A did not see him for the rest of the semester. However, she wondered what it all meant, so she sent him a card saying love you. She chose not to say I love you because she is not sure that she does. She checked her e-mail by the minute waiting for him to open his card. When she finally got notice that he had opened it she prayed that he would not show it to anyone and also wondered what his response would be. She thought maybe he would call her or maybe he would e-mail her about the card. Almost 30 days went by and she never heard from him

The Beginning

Okay so A met this guy in one of her classes. Initially she did not pay him any attention. He was always late to class and his dress was unremarkable. They ended up talking by accident when she sat near him at a speech. They often did not agree and made opposite comments. The girl still did not pay him any attention. Days later she was having a conversation with one of his acquaintances and he told her that he had told the guy about a conversation they had had. A did not pay attention to the comment that the two friends were discussing her.

A began to pay the guy more attention as she was trying to get to know her classmates. She would talk to him after class. A month went by and she really did not pay him any attention. After not speaking to him for a while she happened to see him in the common area with his friends. She teased him and he got real sensitive. His friends thought that it was funny. She would speak to him after class but not much more.

Law School or Junior High

Law school reminds me a lot of high school, junior high school. You have your class sections, lockers, you bring your lunch, and carry an over stuffed backpack.

Relationships, whether romantic or platonic, are the same. Does he like me, does she like me? I am waiting for the point when someone passes a note that says do you like me and then two squares with yes and no written respectfully. And of course the note would be written in crayon.
Those afternoon soap operas that law students are too busy to watch - who needs them. You have fellow law students to watch make fools of themselves.
